Description
Postal rate period: June 17, 1922 – October 18, 1922. Context: From the 6th month of 1922, due to the introduction of new rubles, stamps with denominations from 1 to 14 kopecks were treated as ruble stamps, while ruble stamps were used at their face value again. In effect, all [old] stamps became worth 10,000 times less. It is a true mathematical challenge. Description: July 27, 1922. Registered airmail inflation cover sent from Moscow to Berlin. The reverse side is franked with stamps totaling 105 rubles. Breakdown: 90 rubles was the rate for a registered letter, and 15 rubles was likely the airmail surcharge. The front features a registration stamp and a Königsberg airmail postmark. Rate: June 17, 1922 – October 18, 1922 = 90 rubles.
