Description
Folded commercial letter sent from Riga to Copenhagen (Denmark) on November 21, 1857. Addressed to Captain J. P. Arboe at the famous Nyhavn district. The letter is notable for the oval trading house cachet "FENGAR & Co RIGA" and the "Porto Russland" instructional mark. The reverse side features a crisp rectangular Riga postmark dated November 9 (Old Style) and a Prussian transit stamp "KÖNIGSBERG / BROMBERG".
