Description

Pierre Joseph Chardigny 1794 - 1866, manufacturer HY Lorin & Cie, Editeur, Paris Sculptor and medalist, known for several busts, including those of Cardinal Talleyrand Perigord which in particular can be named. In 1839 he completed for the town hall in Paris the statue of the sculptor Jean Goujon. Since 1814 studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Debuted in 1819 in Salon. After 1824 he emigrated to Spain where he was asked by the Spanish government to design a statue of King Ferdinand VII. In 1848 he returned to Paris, where he lived until his death living as a sculptor and medalist.
