Description
Inflationary mail, domestic postcards. September 8, 1917. A postal stationery card (originally 3 kopecks) uprated with an additional 2-kopeck stamp. The card passed through censorship. Tariff: From August 15, 1917, to February 28, 1918, the rate was 5 kopecks. The card was presumably sent from Pskov, Russian Empire. To: Ensign Dmitry Petrovich Tsvetkov, Unit: 303rd Sumy Infantry Regiment, 11th Company, Location: Active Army (Deystvuyushchaya Armiya). This letter is a cry for help and a plea of love from a home-front city that, in September 1917, already felt the breath of the Civil War and the collapse of the front.
