Description

July 11, 1916. A money order sent from Perkjärvi to Terijoki (Finland) for the amount of 319 rubles 66 kopecks (equivalent to 863 marks). Money orders in Finland were calculated by converting Finnish marks and penni into Russian rubles and kopecks (using the exchange rate of 10 kopecks = 27 penni). The fee for this transfer was paid with stamps totaling 84 kopecks (the tariff for transfers between 825 and 900 marks was 84 kopecks). The 70-kopeck stamp is a very rare occurrence on mail within Finland. The transfer was received in Terijoki on July 13, 1916. The postmarks are bilingual Finnish-Russian.
