Description

An early Russian Empire domestic cover, sent on May 4, 1861, from St. Petersburg to Moscow. Addressed to "His High Nobility Robert Ivanovich Frank, at the Main Moscow Telegraph Station." The envelope is franked with a standard 10-kopeck coat of arms stamp, neatly cancelled with a St. Petersburg dotted numeral obliterator. This item stands out for its superb aesthetic appeal and multicolored postal markings: a crisp red dispatch datestamp on the front, a blue Moscow arrival datestamp on the reverse (May 5), and an intact red wax seal.
