Description
A domestic business cover sent on March 15, 1939, from the Riga Railway Station (Rīga Dz. St.) to Dobele. Addressed to the local Justice of the Peace, A. Cīrulis. The primary historical highlight of this item is the violet propaganda cachet reading "Zemturi! Laiks izremontēt mašīnas" (Farmers! Time to repair machines), which perfectly illustrates the agrarian policies of the K. Ulmanis era. The envelope features an eye-catching franking: seven 3-santīmi stamps (totaling 21 santīmi) from the 1938 20th Anniversary of Independence issue. The stamps are tied by crisp railway station cancellations. The reverse is blank.
