Description
A 1921 international registered letter sent from Riga to Copenhagen, Denmark. The printed envelope from the firm "Holten & Bondarzewski" features a fascinating historical detail: a dual street name reflecting the transitional period ("Rainis- (Thronfolger-) Boulevard"). The front bears a red registration label and an obsolete Russian "Заказное" (Registered) handstamp. The main philatelic highlight is on the reverse—a mixed franking from the inflation period featuring provisional surcharged stamps. There are seven stamps in total, six of which have typographic overprints upgrading their values from kopecks to rubles (applied to the "Constituent Assembly" and "Lāčplēsis" issues). All stamps are tied by clear Riga postmarks dated February 26, 1921.
