Description
A 1920 international letter sent from Riga to Heidelberg, Germany. The highlight of this cover is its spectacular mixed franking featuring 6 stamps from 5 different early Latvian issues: the standard "Sun" design, "Liberation of Latgale," "Constituent Assembly," "Red Cross," and "Lāčplēsis" (Liberation of Courland). The cover was subjected to mandatory inspection, bearing a distinct purple hexagonal Latvian military censor cachet ("Kara Cenzūra"). Cancelled with Riga datestamps on October 12, 1920.
