Description
A rare 1894 official money letter (insured cover) sent by the Riga City Police Administration to the Edwahlen Volost Administration (via Goldingen/Kuldīga). The cover indicates an insured value of "7 rubles 70 kopeks." This item is remarkable for having five original red wax seals of the Riga Police Department on the reverse, all in excellent condition. It features clear Riga Postal Office strikes and a Goldingen (Courland Governorate) arrival postmark dated January 29, 1894.
