Description

Chaumet is a French jewelry house with a rich history spanning over two centuries. Here is an overview of the history of Chaumet:

The origins of Chaumet can be traced back to 1780 when jeweler Marie-Étienne Nitot opened his jewelry shop in Paris. Nitot became the court jeweler of Napoleon Bonaparte and his wife, Empress Josephine. During the Napoleonic era, Chaumet thrived, creating exquisite jewelry for the French aristocracy and European royal families.

After Napoleon's fall and during the Restoration monarchy, the company continued its activities under the guidance of Marie-Étienne Nitot's son, Jean-Baptiste François Nitot. In 1812, Jean-Baptiste François Nitot was awarded the title "King of Diamonds" (Roi des Diamants) and continued to collaborate with European royal families, crafting luxurious jewelry.

In 1885, Jean-Valentin Morel acquired Chaumet and transformed it into a successful jewelry house. Morel upheld Chaumet's traditions, creating exquisite jewelry and collaborating with royal families and celebrities.

In 1999, Chaumet became part of LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton), one of the world's largest luxury conglomerates. This allowed Chaumet to expand its influence and presence in the international market.

Chaumet specializes in creating jewelry pieces including rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, brooches, and more. Their designs often draw inspiration from nature, history, and culture, and they are known for their craftsmanship and use of high-quality materials.
