Description

World famous artist and etcher of the 20th century, famous Russian traveler, explorer of Siberia, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Exhibitor of exhibitions in Europe and America (Boston, Chicago, New York, Basel). He wrote and designed a handbook for travelers - "Discovery of Siberia". Illustrated many books. The magazine "Miracles and Adventures" published his articles about the artists: Nikireev SM, Dolendzhashvili G., about his travels. For color etchings he received a diploma from the International Exhibition in Boston. He was in friendship with Fyodor Konyukhov for over 35 years. For more than a quarter of a century of his life, the artist traveled to the most remote corners of Siberia, repeating more than once the routes of the Russian pioneers Poyarkov and Ermak. In total, Demyan spent twenty-five seasons in Eastern Siberia and three expeditions to the site of the fall of the Tunguska meteorite in South Yakutia. Works are in the collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the engraving cabinet of the Pushkin Museum, the Metropolitan Museum, the Gilbert Collection (USA) and the National Library of New York, the Museum of New Art in Cologne (Germany), in the collection of the President of Finland Mauno Koivisto.
