Description

A 1929 international letter of outstanding historical value for maritime mail collectors. Sent from Riga to Copenhagen, Denmark. The addressee is the legendary A.P. Møller (Arnold Peter Møller), founder of the world-renowned Maersk shipping empire, at the company's historic headquarters (8, Kongens Nytorv). The reverse reveals the sender: the steamship "S/S Hertha Maersk", docked in the port of Riga at the time. The cover is franked with two 15 santīmi red triangular stamps (10th Anniversary of Independence issue), attractively arranged tête-bêche to form a neat rectangle. Cancelled with crisp Riga datestamps on October 15, 1929.
