Description
A 1926 international official letter sent from Riga to Copenhagen, Denmark. This item represents diplomatic mail, sent by the Royal Danish Legation in Riga. A fascinating historical detail is found in the sender's corner cachet: the word "Konsulat" (Consulate) has been crossed out by typewriter and replaced with "Gesandtskab" (Legation), reflecting an upgrade in the diplomatic mission's status. The bottom left corner features a helpful local routing note typed in Latvian: "Uz Daniju." (To Denmark). The cover is franked with two definitive Coat of Arms stamps (5 and 25 santīmi), tied by three exceptionally crisp Riga datestamps of July 7, 1926.
