Description

March 31, 1922. A local letter sent within Moscow. It features a receiving postmark on the reverse dated April 2, 1922. The letter is franked with three 2,000-ruble stamps, totaling 6,000 rubles, which correctly matched the tariff of the period. This letter was sent just one day after the tariff increased from 5,000 to 6,000 rubles. Note the extreme brevity of this tariff period. The letter is addressed to one of the primary newspapers of the young Soviet Republic — "Izvestia VtsIK" (All-Russian Central Executive Committee). At that time, it was the official printing organ of the state authority.
