Description

June 12, 1916. A letter with a censorship stamp and original contents. Sent from Vladivostok to Petrograd, received on June 16, 1916. Alexander Ivanovich Yanushevsky was a historical figure whose career spanned the twilight of the Russian Empire. An experienced officer, he rose from the rank of ensign to Major General. Education & Early Service: Educated at the Minsk Classical Gymnasium; entered military service in 1867 after graduating from the Vilna Infantry Junker School. Administrative Command:

His service was primarily focused on military administration. He served in the 119th Kolomna Infantry Regiment and later commanded a company in the Life Guards. District Military Commissioner: He served as the District Military Chief in several key regions: Yamburg (1888), Peterhof (1895), Riga (1903–1907), and St. Petersburg (1907–1913). Later Years: Retired in late 1913, but immediately took the honorary position of Head (Host) of the Officers' Assembly of the Army and Navy in St. Petersburg. Awards: Recipient of the Order of St. Stanislaus (2nd Class), St. Anne (2nd Class), and St. Vladimir (3rd Class). Death: Passed away on April 11, 1916, at the age of 65. As he died in Petrograd while holding an administrative post, his death was not combat-related.

Vladimir Alexandrovich Yanushevsky (born 1897): Highly likely to be one of the General's four children. Career: Graduate of the Marine Cadet Corps (Class of 1917). Promoted to Midshipman (Michman). Civil War & Exile: Served with the White Fleet (Naval Forces of the South of Russia) in the Black Sea. In 1920, during the Russian Exodus, he evacuated to Bizerte (Tunisia) with the Russian Squadron. He later lived in France and was a member of the Naval Assembly in Paris.
