Description

Fedor Karlovich Burkhardt - Russian artist, graphic artist, watercolorist, author of scenic landscapes and still lifes.

The work of Fedor Karlovich Burkhardt occupies one of the brightest pages in the history of Russian landscape painting. The richness of natural motifs is connected by the artist with philosophical reflections about a person, about his spiritual connection with the outside world. Burchardt is a subtle colorist, romantic, master of the lyrical landscape who breathed his mood on a quiet autumn morning, on a bright sunny winter day, on a cloudy spring afternoon. Panoramic landscapes and small studies with tree branches and powerful trunks of pine trees attract the attention of a variety of artistic images. The artist entered the circle of painters close to I. Levitan and did not lose ties with the traditions of Russian art.

Fedor Karlovich Burkhardt loved to paint birds, wonderfully animating the landscape. Partridges, wood-grouse, blackcock, flying ducks, organically incorporated into the natural landscape, played the role of the main characters of the plot. The image was quite realistic, which indicated that the artist perfectly knew the features and habits of birds. He knew and loved the forest, and he could wander for long hours along the reserved paths, observing its inhabitants.

Fedor Karlovich Burkhardt was born in St. Petersburg in 1854, graduated from the Academy of Arts, traveled extensively in Russia in search of inspiration, but always returned to his native land, where the modest northern nature was pleasing to the eye with its subtle beauty. The compositions of his works resembled musical works, so harmonious in style and sustained in one tonality.

The landscapes of Burchardt are distinguished by the subtle color harmony of silvery gray, greenish and ocher tones. Dissolved, as if in a misty haze, the colors melt on the surface of the canvas, filling the distant plan of the painting with a languid haze. The first plan of the picture is registered by the artist in more detail and in detail. In his works, Burchardt combines the technique of painting spots and graphic drawing of contours. FK Burkhardt was a regular participant in exhibitions, consisted of several artistic associations in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
