Description

Painter spent his childhood in Riga, then with the family moved to Moscow. There he learns at school from 1914th to 1921st, later attending business school. The young man often visited museums and the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, which inspired to focus on the arts. Young painter attended classes at Janis Niedrite's workshop, who was working in Arkhangelsk at that time. On 1921 after returning to Riga artist worked at the Rigas' port. Studied at the University in faculty of language.

Studied painting at the D. Gailitis workshop (from 1928), in drawing courses of Latvian Academy of Arts by K.Brencens (1934-1935), in J.R.Tillbergs' Studio (1938-1940).

On 1938th with rebuilt boat he goes to Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark, visiting art storage of these countries. On 1939th he travels around Europe - England, France, Holland and Germany, studying museums. Traveling by sea on a yacht around Scandinavia gave a major source of inspiration for all creative life-cycle. He became one of the more productive and the most popular Latvian Sea painter.

Artists' Union since 1944.  Participated in exhibitions from 1932.  Around 50 solo-exhibitions in Riga, Tukums, Jurmala, Ventspils, Liepaja and other Latvian cities.  Participated in many group exhibitions. Artist's paintings were exhibited in different foreign exhibitions - in Germany, Japan, England, Sweden, Austria, Lebanon, U.S., Italy, Finland, Belgium, Chile and Egypt.

Aleksandrs Zviedris worked in oil and watercolor techniques. Marine theme occupies a central role in his creative work. He painted the landscape, industrial landscape of socialistic realism - Plavinu HES building, ports and urban landscapes.  From 1926 made violins. He has led art studio in Tukums, Valmiera and Riga. One of founder of the yacht club "Daugava".
