Bernards Mednitis has painted figurative compositions, portraits and landscapes. After the World War II he turned mainly to landscape painting (Pardaugava district of Riga, Shores of the river Daugava) and flower paintings. He painted in realistic manner, revealing the mood of a scene.
Bernards Mednitis has studied at the Art Academy of Latvia (1928–1936), where he graduated the masterclass of Figurative painting with a diploma work “At the Artist’s studio”, led by Gederts Eliass. Mednitis was among the founders of the Mukusala Artist’s group (1933–1940).
